It has to be re-emphasized in this context that the gap between most academic qualifications and industry is the issue of practical skills and technical know-how. A lot of students have enviable qualifications from Universities and Colleges, yet basic application and demonstration of practical knowledge and practical skills are always a big issue and a huge task. The paper qualification in this sense becomes hollow. It is in this vein that the elite professions, particularly the professional accounting bodies require all students after qualification to be on attachment with practising firm for at least three years before membership certification.
